Teaching Experience
Peer Tutor at UNC Learning Center
Since the spring of 2022, I have been working as a peer tutor at The Learning Center in UNC-Chapel Hill. In this role, I provide tutoring support for a range of courses including MATH 231, 232, 233 (Calculus series), MATH 347 (Linear Algebra), PSYC 532 (Advanced Quantitative), PSYC 210 (Quantitative), PSYC 230 (Cognitive), STOR 455 (Data Analysis), and many others. As part of the APPLES service-learning course, this tutoring initiative aims to assist students in the community by providing academic support and guidance.
In addition to my tutoring responsibilities, I have actively participated in various projects at The Learning Center. These projects include writing blogs to share helpful study tips and strategies with students, as well as contributing to the improvement of a scale used to measure the assertiveness of tutors. Through my involvement in these projects, I have gained valuable experience in developing educational resources and collaborating with other tutors to enhance the tutoring experience for students.
Being a peer tutor at The Learning Center has allowed me to utilize my knowledge and skills to help fellow students succeed academically. It has been a rewarding experience to support and guide students in their learning journeys, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the academic community at UNC-Chapel Hill.
BIOL 101L: Biology Laboratory
During the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters at UNC-Chapel Hill, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Carolina Math Circle. As a volunteer, my main role was to teach mathematics to elementary school children. It was a rewarding experience to work with these young students and help them develop their math skills. Through engaging activities and interactive lessons, we made learning math fun and accessible for the children. It was a joy to see their enthusiasm and progress as they tackled new concepts and solved problems. Being part of the Carolina Math Circle allowed me to contribute to the education and growth of these young minds, fostering a love for mathematics and inspiring them to look at the subject from different perspectives.
Carolina Math Circle
During the Fall 2021 semester at UNC-Chapel Hill, I had the opportunity to work as an intern in the BIOL 101L: Introductory Biology Laboratory. My responsibilities included setting up the lab before each class, ensuring that all necessary supplies were available, and cleaning the lab after each session. Additionally, I provided assistance to students during their lab experiments, offering guidance and answering any questions they had. I also had the role of proctoring exams, ensuring a fair and controlled testing environment. It was a rewarding experience to support students in their learning journey and contribute to the smooth operation of the laboratory. By assisting students and facilitating their understanding of biology concepts through hands-on experiments, I played a part in their academic success and growth in the field of biology.
